La Route │On the Road in Savannah Georgia

Hi Everyone!
If you want to get a true sense of the south and what it was like hundreds of years ago…. visit Savannah!
This beautiful historic city known as America’s first planned city had endured wars, slavery and the cotton boom. This city is a living museum in itself and I only got the chance to scratch the surface. Here are a few of the thing I had the opportunity to do and see:

Loving the crab dinner!

For accommodations, I stayed at the Westin Savannah Harbor which is located directly across the river from the Savannah riverfront. Everyone was really friendly and the room was very nice. The coolest part was the water taxi which looked like a tugboat that would take you across the river. It was so convenient! You don’t have to drive across the bridge to downtown and look for parking.

If you watch the food channel, a place you must visit is Paula Deen’s, Lady and Son’s Restaurant. This was my second time visiting her restaurant and I was just as excited as the first time.  Make the exception and go off your diet for one night. Take the opportunity to experience some classic southern comfort food. On my recent trip I had the Shrimp and Grits and they were really delicious. Also, don’t forget the sweet tea! My first time trying sweet tea was at the Lady and Sons on my trip to Savannah in 2006 and it was just as good as I remember!

While I was in Savannah, I took the Orange and Green Old Town Savannah Trolley Tour. This particular tour is really nice because it’s a narrated tour. It takes you all over old town Savannah with around 15 stops. You have on and off privileges and you can ride the Trolley all day until 5pm! The ticket was $23 because I bought online otherwise I think it runs about $25. I highly recommend going on this tour whether it’s your first time to Savannah or fifth. Taking this tour will really give you to full experience of Savannah amazing history!

Savannah is such a unique city. From the history and food to golf and architecture, everyone will enjoy it. If you have the opportunity to visit here you won’t be disappointed!
