What's in My ipsy Glam Bag? June 2013

Hey Everyone!!
I was so excited to open my ipsy Glam Bag this month as it is the cutest leopard print neon bag! Inside several full size products... making me feel like I'm really getting my $10 worth! I love it when that happens :) Several of the products and brands are new to me and I am really looking forward to trying all of them out. Here we go....

June ipsy Glam Bag

Freeman Beauty Psssst!® The TRUE Original Dry Shampoo-This is one of the best dry shampoo I have ever used! I have actually purchased this brand before on my own and loved it. It does not leave hardly any white powder behind and it has a pleasant scent.

Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter Pencil- I am looking forward to trying this product out as I don't normally gravitate to highlight products. This one is slightly different as it is a matte highlighter and will highlight without the shimmer. Most of the time I usually skip highlighting all together but will give this one a shot!

J.Cat Beauty Sparkling Cream Palette- I have to be honest ... I don't think I will be using this one. I haven't worn glitter since the 90's and do not plan on it. It might be good for Halloween :0)

NYX  Cream Blush in Taupe - This product is very exciting for me since I have never tried a cream blush and I have never tried any NYX products before! I have heard so many good things about cream blushes and NYX. I have heard cream blushes can look very natural and last all day. I hope this one will live up to my expectations.

Starlooks Lip Pencil- When I first took the cap off this pencil I let out a "Whoa!" because it was such a bright neon pink color. But I tried it out a little on my hand and blended it and it actually is a really nice color. This is the first product I am trying out from this brand and I have a good feeling about it.

I would love to hear if you have used any of these products before and what you like and don't like about them :) If your interested in finding out more about ipsy then click here,

Thanks for reading!

La Route│On the Road in Los Angeles

Hi Everyone!

When I started blog writing, I had imagined myself writing about my new adventures in places I had never visited and places that I was excited to see.  As I traveled the last few weeks in the Los Angeles area, it didn’t dawn on me that I should write about visiting here since it’s my home state. I visit here often and almost know my way around the freeways without GPS ;) (sort of).  I realized that even though I have been to Los Angeles hundreds of times, I have never had experienced the things and places I went in the last few weeks.  So here it is… My new experiences …. La Route, On the Road in Los Angeles.
Starting the week out, I never thought in my whole life that I would have an opportunity to stay at this iconic Los Angeles hotel.  When you hear the name Beverly Hills … what do you think of? Movie stars, wealthy people, old Hollywood? And most of us will only dream of staying here.  I will tell you … it’s all of that and more!  I was a little nervous, driving up to the hotel not knowing really what it would be like.  I knew that it would be very fancy and upscale, and possibly could run into a famous person.  I think I was more worried that I would stick out like a sore thumb and people look at me as I could possibly be staying there.  My friend and I even joked, “The Beverly Hillbillies have arrived!”

Walking up to the hotel, the grand red carpet leads you in to the beautiful lobby.   It has classic décor, not too over the top, keeping with the historical tradition of the hotel.  As I walked down the hall the iconic wall paper made me smile as this is what most people dream about seeing. The funny thing… the door keys were not the typical plastic credit card style. They were electronic but were a real metal key! I was afraid all week of losing it! The room was just as I expected classic elegance. It had a nice bathroom and the bed was really comfortable!
The service is at the hotel was impeccable. It’s like you have stepped back in time to the golden age. The bellmen, dressed in what would be considered a costume by today standards, gathered my bags from the car and delivered them to my room promptly.  He set up my suitcase on the luggage rack, and showed me how to use the in room safe.  This was a first for me and… I liked it J Housekeeping was also very interesting. They too, were dressed in a traditional black and white maids uniform, and would not only clean your room during the day but come back in the evening for turn down service. They would leave you cookies, fill your ice bucket and turn down your covers.  I thought to myself…. Hmmm I could get used to this J

The most exciting and disappointing event of the week…. As my friend passed by the elevator, she looked up to smile at the person getting off, and to her surprise, it was JENNIFER ANISTON! And she smiled back at her!!! As you can probably guess… I missed the star sighting but I’m so glad she got to see her.

Another iconic Los Angeles hot spot, not so elegant but doesn’t need to be is Pink’s Hot Dogs. This historical restaurant has been serving hot dogs for over 70 years, at the same location on the corner of La Brea and Sunset.  With some hot dog creations such as the Martha Stewart Dog, the Leeza Gibbons Dog, and the Ryan Lochti dog, these hot dogs really have endless combinations. Whatever you feel like putting on your dog, they can do it (except they didn’t have cream cheese) L

I’m not really a hot dog eater, in fact I don’t even eat beef.  But not to worry… they have turkey and veggie dogs too!  On my turkey dog I had, mustard, nacho cheese, sour cream and topped with bacon. It was really good but messy!  Not only did I visit Pink’s once while in Los Angeles but I went the next week too! Here are some photos me and my friends getting down and dirty at Pink’s!
From standing in the long line to ordering from the open air counter and eating outside, It’s all about the experience at Pink’s! If you are in Los Angeles, take the time to go to Pink’s. There is no other place like it!

Lastly, I had the chance to visit SUR Restaurant and Lounge in Weho  (West Hollywood).  For those that don’t know about SUR… Its owned by Lisa Vanderpump from the reality TV show The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.  This is the restaurant used for the backdrop of the TV show Vanderpump Rules. I have to be honest, I really haven’t watched either show too much, but when we were there my friend recognized many people from the show.

At the restaurant, the food was good, nothing too spectacular but good. The wine was probably the best part as they have their own house wine bottled just for them.  It was really smooth and delicious. The next night, we relaxed at SUR Lounge.  The décor was really cool and sexy.  The most disappointing part of the whole night was how we were treated by the bartender and server.  Like I said, I really don’t watch the TV show at all but apparently his name is Jax.  As we stood at the bar for several minutes, nobody approached to take our order. Finally, I see Jax , he makes eye contact with me, and keeps on walking! He had several conversations with other customers completely ignoring us! Needless to say, he finally came back over to us and took our order very rudely. So much so, that we didn’t even want to tip him. But we still did.  After that, we all decided to sit a lounge table to relax and people watch. Again, not once did a server come by to ask us if we needed anything. It was only after we flagged her down that we got service.

Overall, we were not impressed with this Hollywood hotspot.  I’m sure we would have all enjoyed going to Pink’s again instead J
There are so many amazing places to see in Los Angeles and this trip really renewed my outlook on Los Angeles overall. There are some really cool, fun places to visit….Just as long as you have time and a car.

Cover Girl Flamed Out Mascara Review

Hi Everyone!

How long have you been looking for your perfect mascara? If your like me you have been looking for a long time. Recently, I had been trying out several different mascaras and came across a new display at CVS with Cover Girl Flamed Out Mascara.  I had not even seen any commercials for it on TV yet for this new product! The wand was a bit unusual and had never seen a wand in this shape, so I knew that I needed to try it!
I have loved the plastic spiny mascara wands for a long time and have not really gone back to the bristle type forever! The spiny wands always worked so well on my lashes. I always considered the bristle type "old news"....Until...I tried Flamed Out.

This wand does not clump my lashes and gives them length and volume at the same time. I have to admit that this is the longest my lashes have looked in a long time. I have been trying out some pretty expensive mascaras too!  When I applied the mascara the first time, I noticed that the formula is gel like and glided on very lightly.( I purchased the Water Resistant) I did need to add 2 coats of mascara to get the length to my liking and the result was really nice. I normally never add 2 coats of mascara because usually the second coat always clumps my lashes. Not with Flamed Out!  When I added the second coat it made my lashes so much longer and fuller. I have to admit I was a bit shocked that they didn't clump!

Above is a picture of one eye with Flamed Out mascara (left) and one without (right). You can see how amazingly it worked on my lashes!
Some other things that I am really liking about Cover Girl Flamed Out Mascara is it leaves my lashes feeling soft, not hard and crispy. (great descriptive words Ha!) I can also apply it to my bottom lashes, wear it all day and still not have a smudge! Also, when I'm washing my face at night it does not create giant raccoon eyes. It actually leaves very little mascara behind after just washing my face with cleanser. I use a tiny bit of eye make up remover and that's it! I was very impressed.
Flamed Out Mascara runs about $7.99 and can be purchased at CVS, most drugstores or supermarkets.
All around, I am finding Cover Girl Flamed Out Mascara to be a great product to use. I recommend trying out this new type of  mascara especially because of the wand. See if it makes a difference in your lashes like it did mine. :)

What mascara are you loving at the moment? I would love to hear:) Leave me a message!

May Beauty Favorites

Hey Everyone!
I'm a little late with the my May favorites and I didn't even post April favorites! I was so busy in the month of May with home renovations I hardly posted at all. I hope you all can forgive me :) I have lots of new posts coming up so I hope you will stay tuned :) So... Lets get started with May Favorites!

My first favorite is Caudalie Pulpe Vitaminee Anti-Wrinkle Fluid. I actually have been using this for a few months and it is probably one of the best moisturizers I have ever used. Its made for normal or combination skin that is starting to show signs of aging. It smells very light and clean. My skin really feels so much healthier. Its not greasy and my skin drinks it right in. The price is on the expensive side at $58 for 1.3oz but I decided that anything that will help me keep my face looking youthful a little bit longer... is worth it. :)

My next favorite is this Bubblegum Lip Scrub by Lush. I have loved most Lush products for as long as I can remember. I love Lush because all of their products are handmade and contain lots natural ingredients. This lip scrub has that familiar bubble gum smell and TASTE! Yep, you can eat it! The instructions say to lick it off your lips when your done scrubbing! How cool is that! It is made with real sugar and will leave your lips feeling really soft and smooth.

This next product that has become one of my faves for getting that little bit of extra color on my legs is Malibu Tan Hemp Golden Glow Skin Firming Bronzing Moisturizer. This is a gradual self tanning lotion.  I heard about this product from Leighannsays on Youtube. The main reason I even tried it out was because she said it didn't leave a heavy self tan smell afterwards. I have always hated that about self tanning products. Once I tried it, I was hooked! It is so moisturizing and not greasy at all! The best thing about it... you can pick it up at Wal-Mart for about $5!!!

My last favorite is Big Sexy Hair Powder Play. I have found my new go to product for volume and texture in my fine hair. I actually did a whole review on my blog on this awesome product. You can check it out  HERE !

Hope you enjoyed my May favorites! What products have you been loving this month?

What's in my ipsy Glam Bag? May 2013

Hi Everyone!

Ipsy really did a great job this month choosing some really awesome products as well as a really cute Glam Bag to tote it all! May's Glam Bag did not disappoint with several full size products. Ipsy is starting to become my favorite beauty subscription.

Here is a peek at the beauty products included in this months Glam Bag:

Zoya Professional Laquer in Neely- This is a very light creamy turquoise color which looked really nice on my nails. On of my favorite new colors!

Pacifica Luminizing Body Butter in Coconut Crushed Pearl- I'm not one to wear sweet smelling lotions but this coconutty, vanilla cake scented body butter really smells good enough to eat. It also has an shimmer and didn't leave a greasy feeling behind. Actually, its very moisturizing!

Macadamia Natural Oil Healing Oil Treatment- I have been wanting to try the Macadamia products ever since I heard so many good reviews about them. I put this oil in my damp hair and it makes it easy to brush and after drying leaves it really soft. Love it!

Juice Beauty Organics Reflecting Gloss - This product is in the pre launch phase and I could not find out the name of the color. So, I will describe it! Its a neutral shimmery brown and is smells like orange or citrus. The bonus: its made with organic products. Yes!

Yaby Concealer- I had never heard of this company but I am already loving the creamy coverage and how smooth it glides under my eyes. Its also vegan:)

I really have nothing but good things to say about all of this months products I am loving every one! Great Job Ipsy!

Thanks for Reading!
