The Sunday Foodie | How to make Fraffles?!?

Hi Everyone! You're probably wondering... "What the heck are Fraffles?"  Breakfast is one of my favorite meals to make, especially on Sunday morning, by making Fraffles you get the best of two breakfast dishes.

Fraffles are a little idea I got from my mom that crosses french toast with a waffle.
( French Toast + Waffles = Fraffles) I know its kind of a funny name. I wanted to think of a clever name sort of like the Cronut :)

The idea is quite ingenious actually. Let's say you like making waffles but your not really feeling up to  mixing a waffle batter but you are also in the mood for french toast and you have some bread you need to use up. This is a quick and easy breakfast that really takes no time at all.  Here are the ingredients that I used, but of course you can adapt the recipe as you like.

2 slices of bread- I just used what I had which was wheat bread
2 to 3 eggs beaten
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract

You will also need a waffle iron and any condiments you usually like on your waffle or french toast. I prefer just plain old butter and maple syrup.

First, heat up your waffle iron. In a bowl, beat the eggs and add in the cinnamon and vanilla. When the waffle iron is ready, dip one of the slices of bread in the egg mixture just like when you are making french toast. Place soaked bread in the waffle iron and close. Cook for about 3 to 4 min. Time will depend on the thickness of your bread.  Check after 3 min to insure it does not get too brown. Once cooked, top with your favorite breakfast condiments. :)

I hope you find this as easy to make as I did. Its quick, simple and its a great alternative when you can't decide what your in the mood for breakfast on a Sunday morning... french toast or waffles... how about both?

Let me know if you try out Fraffles. I would love to hear from you!
