Hi Everyone!
When I started blog writing, I had imagined myself writing
about my new adventures in places I had never visited and places that I was
excited to see. As I traveled the last
few weeks in the Los Angeles area, it didn’t dawn on me that I should write
about visiting here since it’s my home state. I visit here often and almost
know my way around the freeways without GPS ;) (sort of). I realized that even though I have been to
Los Angeles hundreds of times, I have never had experienced the things and
places I went in the last few weeks. So
here it is… My new experiences …. La Route, On the Road in Los Angeles.
Starting the week out, I never thought in my whole life that
I would have an opportunity to stay at this iconic Los Angeles hotel. When you hear the name Beverly Hills … what
do you think of? Movie stars, wealthy people, old Hollywood? And most of us
will only dream of staying here. I will
tell you … it’s all of that and more! I
was a little nervous, driving up to the hotel not knowing really what it would
be like. I knew that it would be very
fancy and upscale, and possibly could run into a famous person. I think I was more worried that I would stick
out like a sore thumb and people look at me as I could possibly be staying
there. My friend and I even joked, “The
Beverly Hillbillies have arrived!”

Walking up to the hotel, the grand red carpet leads you in
to the beautiful lobby. It has classic
décor, not too over the top, keeping with the historical tradition of the
hotel. As I walked down the hall the
iconic wall paper made me smile as this is what most people dream about seeing.
The funny thing… the door keys were not the typical plastic credit card style.
They were electronic but were a real metal key! I was afraid all week of losing
it! The room was just as I expected classic elegance. It had a nice bathroom
and the bed was really comfortable!
The service is at the hotel was impeccable. It’s like you
have stepped back in time to the golden age. The bellmen, dressed in what would
be considered a costume by today standards, gathered my bags from the car and
delivered them to my room promptly. He
set up my suitcase on the luggage rack, and showed me how to use the in room
safe. This was a first for me and… I
liked it J
Housekeeping was also very interesting. They too, were dressed in a traditional
black and white maids uniform, and would not only clean your room during the
day but come back in the evening for turn down service. They would leave you
cookies, fill your ice bucket and turn down your covers. I thought to myself…. Hmmm I could get used
to this J

The most exciting and disappointing event of the week…. As my friend passed by the elevator, she looked up to smile at the person getting off, and to her surprise, it was JENNIFER ANISTON! And she smiled back at her!!! As you can probably guess… I missed the star sighting but I’m so glad she got to see her.
Another iconic Los Angeles hot spot, not so elegant but
doesn’t need to be is Pink’s Hot Dogs. This historical restaurant has been
serving hot dogs for over 70 years, at the same location on the corner of La
Brea and Sunset. With some hot dog
creations such as the Martha Stewart Dog, the Leeza Gibbons Dog, and the Ryan Lochti
dog, these hot dogs really have endless combinations. Whatever you feel like
putting on your dog, they can do it (except they didn’t have cream cheese) L
I’m not really a hot
dog eater, in fact I don’t even eat beef.
But not to worry… they have turkey and veggie dogs too! On my turkey dog I had, mustard, nacho
cheese, sour cream and topped with bacon. It was really good but messy! Not only did I visit Pink’s once while in Los
Angeles but I went the next week too! Here are some photos me and my friends
getting down and dirty at Pink’s!
From standing in the
long line to ordering from the open air counter and eating outside, It’s all
about the experience at Pink’s! If you are in Los Angeles, take the time to go to Pink’s.
There is no other place like it!
Lastly, I had the chance to visit SUR Restaurant and Lounge
in Weho (West Hollywood). For those that don’t know about SUR… Its
owned by Lisa Vanderpump from the reality TV show The Real Housewives of
Beverly Hills. This is the
restaurant used for the backdrop of the TV show Vanderpump Rules. I have
to be honest, I really haven’t watched either show too much, but when we were
there my friend recognized many people from the show.
At the restaurant, the food was good, nothing too
spectacular but good. The wine was probably the best part as they have their
own house wine bottled just for them. It
was really smooth and delicious. The next night, we relaxed at SUR Lounge. The décor was really cool and sexy. The most disappointing part of the whole
night was how we were treated by the bartender and server. Like I said, I really don’t watch the TV show
at all but apparently his name is Jax. As we stood at the bar for several minutes,
nobody approached to take our order. Finally, I see Jax , he makes eye contact
with me, and keeps on walking! He had several conversations with other
customers completely ignoring us! Needless to say, he finally came back over to
us and took our order very rudely. So much so, that we didn’t even want to tip
him. But we still did. After that, we
all decided to sit a lounge table to relax and people watch. Again, not once
did a server come by to ask us if we needed anything. It was only after we
flagged her down that we got service.

Overall, we were not impressed with this Hollywood
hotspot. I’m sure we would have all
enjoyed going to Pink’s again instead J
There are so many amazing places to see in Los Angeles and this
trip really renewed my outlook on Los Angeles overall. There are some really
cool, fun places to visit….Just as long as you have time and a car.
